Apple Crisp

Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 pounds apples
  • 2 Tbsp orange juice
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup flour
  • 3/4 cup light brown sugar, packed
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup oatmeal
  • 1/2 cup chilled, unsalted butter, cut into small chunks

Instructions

Preheat oven to 375°F. Lightly butter an 8-inch square baking pan. Peel, core, and thinly slice apples.

Combine with orange juice, and sugar. Pour mixture into the pan. Arrange apple slices on top.

To make the topping, combine all topping ingredients in the bowl of an electric mixer. With the mixer on low speed, mix until butter is about the size of peas and topping mixture is crumbly. Scatter mixture over apples.

Bake for about 40 minutes or until the top is brown and the apples are bubbly. Serves 6-8.
