Jewish Apple Cake Recipe
Jewish Apple Cake (from The Sea Gypsy Bed and Breakfast)
Ingredients
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 stick margarine or butter
- 2 eggs
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 2 cups flour
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 8 oz. sour cream
- 4 Mackintosh apples
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
Instructions
Grease a 9x13in baking pan.
Preheat oven to 350F.
In a large bowl cream sugar and magarine.
Add eggs and vanilla, mix together.
In a small bowl combine flour, baking soda, baking powder.
Add flour mixture to sugar mixture.
Add sour cream.
Mix together 3/4 cup sugar with 1 tsp. cinnamon.
Peel and slice 4 baking apples.
Put 1/2 batter in pan.
Arrange sliced apples on top.
Sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon mixture.
Spread other 1/2 batter over apples.
Arrange remaining apples.
Sprinkle with remaining sugar mixture.
Bake for 45-50 mins.
