Baked Pork Shoulder ( Samoylov's Recipe)
Baked Pork Shoulder
Ingredients
- 3-5lb Pork shoulder with bone in (must be actual shoulder, with flat bone in the middle)
- salt
- pepper
- garlic powder
- 1 large onion
- 5-6 peppercorns
- 1 bay leaf
- 3 shots of water
Instructions
- Prepare two large sheets of aluminum foil on top of a baking sheet.
- Cut the onion into rounds and place half of the rounds on the foil.
- Preheat the oven to 500F.
- Wash the meat and pad dry.
- Salt and pepper on all sides then lightly dust with garlic powder.
- Place the meat on top of the onions, then add peppercorns and bay leaf around the meat in the aluminum foil.
- Finally, place the remaining onion rings on top of the meat and begin to wrap the aluminum foil tightly around everything.
- Right before you finish wrapping the meat, dump 3 shots of water inside, then seal the aluminum foil shut.
- When the oven is ready, place the meat inside and turn down the temperature to 375F.
- Bake for 3.5hrs.
- Enjoy hot or cold!
