Melt in your mouth Beef or Pork
Ingredients
- 2lb boneless beef or pork – I buy a big batch at Costco
- 5-8 Tbsp corn / vegetable oil
- 2 Tbsp corn starch
- 1 Tbsp butter
- 1 1/2 Tbsp soy sauce
- 1 large onion
- 1 egg
- 1 red pepper or 1/2 red + 1/2 green
- salt & pepper to taste
Instructions
Prepare the meat by slicing it as thinly as you can and placing it in a bowl. Add salt and pepper to taste (less salt than usual due to soy sauce), then add soy sauce and egg. Mix everything well and let it sit for a few mins.
Meanwhile preheat a large skillet with corn oil on medium high heat. Slice up peppers and onion and set aside. When the skillet is ready, add 1 Tbsp. corn starch to the meat, mix well and add part of the meat to the pan (making sure it is all spread out in a single layer). Quickly sear pieces of meat on all sides so that all pink parts disappear (approx. 1.5 min) then remove the cooked meat into a separate bowl and repeat with the uncooked meat.
After all the meat has been cooked, add 1 Tbsp butter to the pan and all the veggies. Fry on medium heat for 2-3 mins then add the meat and all its juices back to the pan. Fry for another 3-5 mins until the veggies are almost done. Taste to see if you need to add more soy sauce or other spices.
In a small bowl, mix 1 Tbsp corn starch with a bit of water until fully dissolved. Pour the mixture into the frying pan and quickly stir in so that all ingredients are coated.
Remove from heat and enjoy!
